It is one of only two shows they are playing together this summer. This wasn’t a night of the soft acoustic jams Mr. Adams is sometimes known for. No, it was a night of growling guitars, thundering drums and a groovy piano backing Mr. Adams’ timeless tunes. Another cut from his most recent album was next: “Gimme Something Good,” a mix of classic rock guitar and a bluesy melody that got the entire audience moving. He traded his Fender guitar for another and launched into “New York, New York,” a song that shot him into the national spotlight and mainstream playlists. It was a beautiful version of the song. Plugging in and removing the acoustic element was a risky choice but Mr. Adams is a master of his craft.
